We had been looking forward to our Colorado trip for a long time, but it got off to a rough start. The day before we left Cora had some sort of upper respiratory virus and was up the whole night before with a really high fever.
I remember the first time I took Cora to the doctor here in College Station when she was a newborn. My mom came with me and while we were sitting in the waiting room full of little ones that weren't feeling well, she told me that sick kids were the best. I laughed and thought she was crazed. But turns out, she was right. I mean obviously it is the WORST when C feels bad and Michael and I were totally freaked out that night, but on the flip side, she was ultra cuddly and so so sweet. It was like she was a giant newborn.
But by the next morning she seemed like a new person, so after getting clearance from the doctor, we were good to go! We made it to the airport and were super excited/terrified about Cora's first flight. Unfortunately, as a part of her recovery, she had to be on steroids which made her super wired right before we were about to leave.
We were basically taking a drunk baby on a plane. Thank you to Eli for chasing her around for hours before we left!
Turns out we were worried for nothing, she did GREAT on the plane. We had the whole fam to entertain her so we were able to keep her happy the whole time.
She was such a trooper for all the traveling. And it was wonderful to have everyone's help!!
She even put on quite the show while we were waiting for our rental car. She was still on the roids.
But the best part of the day was when we finally got to be with Dave and celebrate his birthday. We enjoyed dinner in Golden and it was great to have the whole family back together again.
The next morning we got up early to do some sight seeing before Dave's game. Our first stop was the Red Rock Amphitheater.
As you can see, it was absolutely beautiful! I wish I could go to a concert there.
We spent a lot of time taking pictures and enjoying the incredible views.
Everyone except Cora. She wouldn't have known the difference if we were in a subway tunnel because she was far too smitten with all of the "puppies." Judging by the look on this one's face, I don't think the feeling was mutual.
Next, we visited the shrine of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. I really enjoyed learning about her life, she was an amazing woman.
And finally, the real reason for the trip, we headed over to campus to watch David and the Orediggers play in their first home game of the season. Dave had an AWESOME touchdown early on. He was so fun to watch. They won big time (57-16 I believe).
On Sunday morning we went to mass at the Cabrini chapel and enjoyed the sights there a little more.
I love Colorado!!
I love Colorado too...let's go back:)
