A lot has happened this month in Cora's little life! I feel like she has grown up so much. We went to the doctor recently (more on that in a bit) and she weighs 15lbs 15 ounces. She can roll over in both directions, but only when absolutely necessary. She did it once each way just to show us that she can and has rolled from her stomach to her back a few times to escape the treacheries of tummy time. She is doing a great job sitting up with our support and can do it on her own for a few seconds here and there.
We most often see this face . . .
But she is laughing and smiling more each day. I got her to smile in this photo shoot by singing "We Fall Down" by Chris Tomlin. She thinks its especially funny when I sing the "Holy Holy Holy" part
And of course she still loves chewing on her fingers and clothes
She is now a lot more active during play time. Even her pacifier has become a toy. She loves taking it out AND putting it back in over and over. She is getting really good at it. She is even exploring the art of accessorizing . . .
Shoulderlets are going to be all the rage this fall.
We have also changed up her baths. Now we sit her up instead of having her lay down because she loves to splash and play with her ducks . . .
But the biggest change this month has been the transition to solid food. We tried giving her rice cereal for a couple days when she was 4 months. Even though she acted like she LOVED it, she would be super fussy afterward so we thought maybe she wasn't ready and we would try again around 5 months. So last week I tried again. Again, she loved it. But a couple hours later she started vomiting. Not spitting up, she does that all the time, but legit vomiting. She would turn all red and choke, it was awful. She did it about 6 times in one hour and I was freaking out. She started losing all her color and going limp. We called her doctor and they said it was probably nothing but to go ahead and have her checked out in the ER. Being the nervous novices that we are, we rushed her to nearest ER where she continued to throw up for the next hour. She had no energy and was even paler than usual. It was horrible to see her like that. We waited around forever and she fell asleep in Michael's arms. She woke up when the doctor came in, and after her brief catnap, she was back to her old self, thank God. They said it was probably just a bad reaction to the rice cereal. Pobrecita . . .
We followed up a couple days later with Cora's doctor and she said to try some other foods. So we started with bananas. She loves them and hasn't had any sort of bad reaction. She lets no banana go to waste. There is a pocket at the end of her bib that catches what she spills she is not ashamed to eat them right out of there . . .
Gold star for not wasting any food. We just love this little munchkin to pieces!!
